The ForePAR Format
The ForePAR System is Carolina ForeHER’s unique on-course learning pathway, designed to help beginners build confidence one step at a time. Instead of starting from the full tee boxes, you’ll begin from a distance that matches your current skill level and gradually progress as your confidence and ability grow.
How It Works
STEP 1: START WHERE YOUR COMFORTABLE
Everyone’s journey is different. If you’re brand new to golf, we recommend starting at 50 yards, but you’re welcome to begin at whichever distance feels right for you. During each round, you’ll use the 18Birdies app to view your yardages and keep a live scorecard as you play.
Step 2: Unlock New Distances
As you play, you’ll earn points based on your scores. Once you’ve reached the required number of points, you’ll unlock the next ForePAR level and continue progressing through the system. We’ll track your progress using a digital ForePAR Pass in your phone’s wallet. Every time you level up, you’ll earn a new stamp to celebrate your achievement.
STEP 3: KEEP TRACKING YOUR PROGRESS
As your confidence grows and you’ve progressed through the ForePAR levels, we’ll help you take the next step by setting up your official USGA Handicap. Don’t let that sound intimidating—we’ll guide you through the entire process and explain how it works, so you can confidently track your scores and play at courses anywhere.

THE PATHWAY
50 Yards → Start from 50 yards so you can focus on the shorter shots without worrying about long-distance shots. This is the perfect starting point for first-time golfers and anyone taking our Golf 101 workshops.
100 Yards → Begin hitting longer approach shots while continuing to build confidence with your short game. Ideal for Golf 101 Workshop graduates and Golf 201 participants who are comfortable with the basics and ready for their next challenge.
150 Yards → Learn to manage the course. Build confidence with mid-range approach shots while learning course management, club selection, and smarter decision-making. Ideal for current or Golf 201 graduates, and Golf 301 participants.
200 Yards → Build confidence from longer distances. Develop consistency with longer approach shots while refining your course management, pre-shot routine, and decision-making. Ideal for current or Golf 301 participants.
Tee Box → Play the course as it’s designed to be played. By now, you’ll have the confidence and skills to enjoy a full round of golf with friends, family, or the Carolina ForeHER community. Best suited for Golf 301 graduates, leagues, social rounds, and tournaments.
How Do You Earn Points?
Every hole gives you the opportunity to progress.
Earn 9 points over 9 holes (or 18 points over 18 holes) to unlock your next distance. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s steady progress.
The purpose of ForePAR isn’t to keep you playing from the same distance forever—it’s to help you build confidence and progress towards playing a full golf course. Starting from shorter distances makes those first few rounds less intimidating, allowing you to learn the game, experience success, and gradually move back as your confidence grows.

Ready to Play?
The best way to understand ForePAR is to experience it.
Join one of our beginner-friendly 9-hole ForePAR events and experience golf on the course with the support of our community. A coach will guide you through the first hole before you’re paired with women at a similar skill level to enjoy the rest of the round together. Our volunteers will be there to welcome you, help you check in, answer any questions, and make sure you feel right at home. Don’t have clubs? No problem—club rentals are available.

getting your handicap
Whenever you feel ready, we’ll help you set up your official USGA Handicap. Whether you’re just starting your golf journey or already playing regularly, a handicap is a great way to track your progress, compete fairly with golfers of all abilities, and enter leagues and tournaments.
We’ll guide you through the setup process and make sure you understand how it all works.
